Diana Carolina López
Statement:
Over time in my development as an artist, painting has become much more than an expressive possibility. I have increasingly found an extension of myself, a natural connection to a complete process of introspection, interpretation, creation, and an ongoing relationship with external reality and with myself. Through art, I express my journey of self-discovery, where each work reflects my search for authenticity and freedom as a woman and a human being.
I mainly create oil portraits in realistic technique, but I reach beyond surface realism to evoke concepts such as the complex development of personal freedom. For example, the composition might reveal a novel perspective, symbolizing the liberation from constraints. I choose color combinations that blend and vibrate to symbolize transformation.
The challenge of my work is to give visible form to the invisible process of growth and self-realization. My main goal is to show my evolutionary process as a human being in a constant search for freedom. This creates a connection with others and an understanding that we are not alone; it is possible to be accepted by being ourselves. My art is a visual testimony of a deep and constant path toward full authenticity.
